In England there are 3 social classes; Upper Class,
Middle Class, and Lower Class
Upper Class contains:
- King
- Advisors
- Nobles
- Church officials
They lived in fine houses and had many valuable items such as art, furniture, and china.
Middle Class contains:
- Merchants
- Manufacturers
- Landowners
People who earned a living such as skilled workers, carpenters, blacksmiths, and dress makersbelonged to guilds and also to the middle class.
Lower Class contains:
- Ordinary workers
- Farmers
These people had very little living space,worked a lot forlittle money, and there was not a lot of opportunity to improve their lives.

Puritans believed that women were less able to avoid sin. Women who had or did the following things were thought to be Witches:
- Did not marry
- Educated about medicine
- Lived on their own
If you were a thought to be a "Witch", the witch finder General Matthew Hopkins would hunt you down and bring you to court.
If you were guilty you would be drowned, hung, or burnt at the stake.
